Of the five restaurants in the Meikles Hotel, this was the only one we tried (other than a drink at the Explorer’s Bar). It is the more casual of the two big restaurants. The dress code is described as “smart casual”, which in our case meant jeans and a nice shirt for my husband and my trusty “never wrinkles no matter how long the flight is” travel dress for me.

The restaurant serves light snacks during the day and an incredible buffet at night with everything from sadza – a staple food of Zimbabwe whose closest cousin is grits – to prime rib. And the dessert table! Just walking past added at least three inches to my hips.

Waiters in starched white uniforms sashed with sky blue hover nearby to provide your every wish. This was the first place we sampled Zimbabwean wine. Not quite on par with the South African, but it was very nice, as was the view over the floodlit roof garden from our window seat.Click here for the latest information on the Pavilion Restaurant in Harare

Another page on this site is where you can find all the coffee shops in Harare. The team at eatout is on a search for the romantic restaurants in Zimbabwe at the moment.

The restaurant owners lunch that was held recently at Millers Restaurant in Harare was a great opportunity for the restaurant owners in harare to have a one on one chat with the eatout team.

You can rate and review them here. A great place to get good food value. A recent review on there says the following :

This is a great place. It is set in a good location, Enterprise road, Harare. There is a cool vibe, lots of different people from all social groups of the nation. A great place to set up a million dollar business deal, get out of trouble with the law, have an awesome afternoon with friends or even suitable for a romantic date. Shangri-La is a place for everyone. Best plan is: go on a Friday afternoon with some mates eat some delicious meals, sit outside in the sun drinking local beer and imported Cape wines, stay as late as possible and enjoy…

Definitely the Pekin duck and Crispy duck. Its the only proper duck in the nation and the ducks are all organically reared, Pekin duck imported from South Africa. World class!
