One has to be blind not to notice how busy the Chinese Restaurant Shangri-la is in Harare and in Bulawayo. I had an opportunity to visit both and was amazed at how popular both. We will soon be bringing you photographs of the renovated Shangri-la in Harare – or if you have pics you want to share then just email them to us and carve (instead of a turkey) your piece in the eatout pie..

we went to Shangri La yesterday for lunch and wht a disappointment – as you drive in the laundry of tablecloths etc is draped over the tennis court and other walls, not a good start. Meet and Greet by a very friendly dreadlocked chappie which helped console us over the laundry debacle. ~After that all downhill – service not very friendly, brusque and abrupt come to mind, food arrived tepid and only half arrived, the other half we had to ask for twice, half the crockery was chipped badly, not a good look, chinese workmen in dirty overalls wandered in through the front door clutching mugs of tea, the maid wandered in through the front door bearing a huge basket of laundry, not a good look overall. And the food was fairly bland and not well prepared, no one came to ask how the meal was and to cap it off when we paid in rands they tried to use a rate of 8:1. We won#’t be going back or recommending it at all.
