Coimbra Chicken is the Answer

November 29th, 2009

One of the reviews recently had this to say -As creatures of habit, we normally stick to the famous half chicken or Portuguese steak. The lesson learned was ‘Stick to what you know’.

Sopranos Coffee Shop Halaal & Wireless

November 25th, 2009

I am sitting on a beautiful day in the capital city of Harare at the the Soparnos Coffee Shop and I can’t believe my luck – FREE WIRELESS internet.  I ordered a cappuccino and had to promtly advise the man behind the counter that he should watch our training video online – which I am sure went right over his head – but who wants a Mountain of froth on their cappuccino? anyone!!!

I recently received an email from a user asking for Halaal restaurants and we are so pleased to be able to add Sopranos under this category.

Chinese Restaurant in Harare

November 24th, 2009

I found details of Shangri La Restaurant on the eatout website. You can rate and review them here. A great place to get good food value.  A recent review on there says the following :

This is a great place. It is set in a good location, Enterprise road, Harare. There is a cool vibe, lots of different people from all social groups of the nation. A great place to set up a million dollar business deal, get out of trouble with the law, have an awesome afternoon with friends or even suitable for a romantic date. Shangri-La is a place for everyone. Best plan is: go on a Friday afternoon with some mates eat some delicious meals, sit outside in the sun drinking local beer and imported Cape wines, stay as late as possible and enjoy…

Definitely the Pekin duck and Crispy duck. Its the only proper duck in the nation and the ducks are all organically reared, Pekin duck imported from South Africa. World class!

Australian Chef Jets in …

November 20th, 2009

Robyn from the Indaba Book Cafe and Sandwich Bar was up in Harare to welcome their new chef all the way from Australia. I think that Bulawayo residents will be very fortunate to have the variety of cuisine available increase.  There is no shortage of good wholesome food in Bulawayo restaurants. Kimba should add a great new fresh dimension to the available cuisine – this chef didn’t want to risk not finding his favourite herbs so he has brought along his own supply of seeds to start up his own supply of herbs at the restaurant.

Indaba also had their first book signing on Friday – we look forward to hearing how it went and some photos…

Coffee Shop after Church

November 8th, 2009

Today I was chatting with some of the youth at Nazareth house in Harare and we were talking about whether it would be nice to have a coffee shop at the church.  Any such conversation wouldn’t happen with mentioning Celebration Center where the Cee Cee’s coffee shop is.  A place where our teens can hang out a still be in a fun environment.

Another interesting area was the Cyber Cafe concept – would the church be a good place to let teens try out the various social networking tools that are so popular in todays world.  How would this help them in their future I hear you asking? Well I don’t know for sure but isn’t exposure in a safe secure environment better that sneaking around and won’t this also help them become aufait with using computers?

Next week I will be meeting with the parents to present the findings of our survey.  In the mean time I have to suffice with meeting the Youth like I did last week at St Zita’s in Borrowdale.
